Cupping

Cupping therapy is another tool used in traditional Chinese medicine. It stimulates and regulates the flow of Qi (energy) and Blood, and it is efficient at reducing pain.

Many top athletes use this technique between two competitions to help with general recovery, muscular stifness, facilitates blood circulation and prevents possible injuries.

How does it work?

A session always starts with a questionnaire. The practitioner defines the needs of the patient, and chooses the most adapted technique of cupping, depending on the pathology to be treated.

The practitioner takes a cotton soaked in alcohol, and ignite it before sliding it into the suction cup, which will create a vacuum on contact with the skin due to the air cooling down. Suction is  created. This is not meant to be painful, but it may be surprising the first few times. It is possible to feel a sensation of warmth, but it does not burn. The suction rises the skin (tissue, muscle) in the cup, and pulls the blood to the surface.

Some red/purple spots may appear on the treated area, but nothing serious. It only means the toxins have appeared on the surface of the skin. The spots will disappear several days later.
